Mental Health Clinician

Role Overview

Activated Concepts’ Mental Health Clinicians are clinical leaders in trauma-informed interventions and focused psychological strategies for people with mental health. They specialise in Victims of Crime, Employee Assistance Program, and private participants. They practice with a trauma-informed lens, in a person-centred manner with the participants, their family, and other relevant stakeholders.

Activated Concepts’ Mental Health Clinicians provide specialist clinical assessments, psychological interventions, develop mental health recovery plans and reports for their participants to support them live a fulfilling and meaningful life in their own community.

Activated Concepts’ Mental Health Clinicians have a sound understanding of mental health and see people in their context. They work with all ages to achieve the individual clinical goals of the participant as well as enhancing the participants self-care strategies.

Key Duties

  • Utilising a trauma-informed and person-centred evidence-based recovery-approach
  • Provision of primary consultation, which includes the initial intake and assessment interview to develop a treatment plan
  • Provide focused psychological strategies and counselling interventions for participants as per a developed treatment plan
  • Completing and documenting comprehensive assessments and reports of support needs, areas for development, strengths, and current capabilities (as funding allows)
  • Development, completion, and the implementation of recovery plans to assist the participant to meet their psychosocial and functional goals (as funding allows)
  • Provide training and support to assist other support providers to implement relevant plans
  • Ensure professional and ethical management of client caseload by maintaining a minimum counselling session pro-rata per annum for a full-time Clinician (i.e. 6x 45min sessions per 7.6-hour day).
  • Ensure all administrative tasks (including case notes) are completed accurately and on time

About You

Essential Criteria

Applicants must outline that they;

  1. Have a relevant degree in Mental Health (Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health Nursing etc) and;
  2. Have a professional registration with AASW, PACFA (Clinical Member), ACA (Level 3 or above) or APHRA and;
  3. Have a sound knowledge of mental health assessment, risk assessment and safety planning, counselling theory and practice, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in counselling (focused psychological strategies). and;
  4. Have an understanding of individual counselling practices and contemporary methods, evidenced-based psychological interventions
  5. Have experience providing counselling to clients with complex mental health issues including trauma as well as clients with multiple Mental Health diagnoses and substance misuse.
  6. Have experience in education, or preventative programs and group work, is desirable.
  7. Have significant experience in conducting mental health and EAP counselling, as well as counselling with perpetrators and survivors of sexual assault and domestic & family violence will be highly regarded. 
  8. Have a valid police check (within the last 12 months) and Working with Children Check and;
  9. Are up-to-date with their COVID vaccination status or have a valid exemption and;
  10. Are aligned with Activated Concepts values.
